We’ve listened to you and in another Australian food first today we became the only Australian national supermarket to have 100% of our fresh chicken RSPCA Approved. This will provide better tasting chicken for you (at no added cost) and better welfare conditions for millions of chickens.
With chicken on the menu in over 95% of Australian households and eaten between two and four times a week by almost 80% of customers, this move is good news for chicken meat lovers. We hope it’s also good news for Australian chicken farmers as almost a third of customers said they would buy even more chicken if there were better welfare options.
This is the latest in a series of quality improvements we have made at no added cost to our customers. We started with no added hormone beef nearly 3 years ago, then followed with cage-free Coles Brand eggs, sow stall-free fresh pork and sustainable seafood.

Each pudding is wrapped in calico, boiled in coppers then hung for a period of maturing. It’s a method as old as the hills but as its makers like to say, the proof is in their pudding…
